Creating a worm farm

During our first Enviro Agent meeting we put together the compost bin we got for taking part in Keep NZ Beautiful last year. This week we filled it with compost and set to work making a home for 2,000 hungry worms. We had to pour two bags of compost in giving it a light water. Layer some ripped up newspaper and cardboard and throw in a few banana peels that we had just eaten for lunch before tipping the worms into their new home. In the afternoon a few of us went back to our classes and gathered up fruit break rubbish but not oranges and mandarin peels because the worms can't eat these.
